At Poinsett Animal Hospital we absolutely love caring for both dogs and cats. However, we give a special acknowledgement to cats here because we often see that they don’t get the attention they deserve. Cats are now more popular than dogs as pets in America but we care for them about half as often as dogs. There are many reasons for this. Cats are very good at hiding pain and illnesses from us. Many feel that cats sort of take care of themselves (yes, they certainly can be more independent than dogs). Last, bringing your cat to the vet for a check-up can be a stressful experience.

We strongly recommend at least annual check-ups in all cats to ensure their well being. All conditions like dental disease, kidney disease, and weight issues are so much easier to manage if they are caught early. The below video shows some tricks to make your cat’s visit to us as stress free as possible. All of our staff enjoy talking about cat care. Please call us any time if you have any questions or concerns.
